Indian Lake High School upperclassman are invited to see the real world of Law Enforcement during the annual Youth Academy with the Bellefontaine Police Department coming up in March.

Indian Lake graduate and current Bellefontaine Police Officer Michael Morgan explained the program and talked about his

career in law enforcement recently.

He told students the Youth Academy offers local juniors and seniors a day with law enforcement from Bellefontaine Police, the Logan County Sheriffs Office, the Ohio Highway Patrol,

Washington Township Police and Russells Point Police. Students are able to talk with the chief, see a K-9 Unit demonstration, ride in a cruiser and take part in a CSI-like exercise with detectives.

Officer Morgan says students also get a rare tour of the Logan County Jail facility.

“You get to see both sides…what it’s like to be an inmate and what it’s like to work there. Not many people get to see it from both perspectives.”

Logan County students interested in the free Youth Academy program on either Saturday, March 7th or March 14th should complete sign up and liability forms and turn them into the office.

Officer Morgan encourages any student with any interest in the law enforcement realm or military to sign up.
