An Indian Lake High School junior sang with the best of the best at the Ohio All-State Choir Concert recently.
Doug Bungard was part of the elite group. He spent two days in Cincinnati to rehearse with the 200 member choir. Then they performed a concert at the Duke Energy Convention Center on Saturday, February 1st.
Bungard was chosen from a field of more than 900 blind recorded auditions. He says, “I had just left a vocal lesson when I found out I was selected. I think that’s the happiest I’ve ever been! It’s probably the highest honor I’ve received and I’m looking forward to following in the footsteps of Laker graduates Belle Elliott and Colin Powers.
The tenor singer says he participated in regional practices and sand on his own to learn the music which had "a good mix of languages and styles" according to Bungard.
Doug is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Dave Bungard of Belle Center.
