Indian Lake High School sophomore Phoebe Brielmaier was recently selected to represent our area on the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Conservation Teen Advisory Council.
Known as ConTAC, the group is a statewide network of student-leaders working together to enhance ODNR's youth outreach and program efforts. Highly motivated students entering grades 9 through 12 who are interested in natural resource conservation, outdoor recreation, wildlife, or simply making a positive impact within the Buckeye State are encouraged to apply. Applications open in the spring each year; members are announced during summer.
ConTAC is a great place for students to meet new peers from across the state with similar interests, develop leadership skills, and provide outdoor opportunities to youth from the shores of Lake Erie to the rolling hills of Appalachia.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing new and unique perspectives, ideas, and recommendations for innovative and effective engagement with youth
 - Developing and implementing youth-focused strategies, resources, campaigns, and/or event
 - Working individually and collectively to empower others to enact conservation-focused initiatives in their communities
 - Research problems, activities, and concerns of youth especially as they relate to conservation.
 - Serving as teen ambassadors
 - Developing knowledge, skills, and inspiration needed for future success
 - Sharing project social media posts
 - Representing the Council at events, conferences, or important meetings throughout the year
 - Spending an average of approximately 10 hours per quarter on Council activities

At ILHS, Brielmaier is active as a member of the Cross Country team, Track team, Key Club and FFA. She is an Honor Roll student and a member of the ILMS Hall of Fame. Outside of school, Brielmaier is the President of Logan County 4H Shooting Sports, where she is a Jr Advisor for 4H Shotgun.
