The ILHS Renaissance Program is getting a reboot for the 2019-20 school year.
Administrators handed out Red, Black and White cards to students who earned them last spring in an all-school assembly recently.
Principal Kyle Wagner explained that the Renaissance Program changes will tie the program into the Positive Behavior Incentives and Support (PBIS) strategies that are emerging at the high school.
Wagner says, "The PBIS program will be similar to the middle school program where staff members can hand out special "Laker" or "Spear" cards to students who are working hard and making a positive impact. Those PBIS cards will be recorded and students who earn them will be eligible to be randomly drawn for larger prizes on a consistent basis throughout the year."
This system will replace the larger prizes that were previously awarded through the Renaissance Program at the end of the school year.
The ILHS Renaissance Program continues to reward students each quarter for earning good grades, having strong attendance and keeping a positive attitude.
