Deputy District Director Barbara Taylor, from Congressman Jim Jordan's Office, spoke with students about what it takes to be accepted into the US Military, Air Force, Naval, Coast Guard and Merchant Marine Academies. She said students should strive to be in the top 40% of their graduating class, work to improve ACT/SAT scores and accumulate valuable volunteer experience. Taylor says academy graduates are required to serve in the armed forces for five years. She notes cadets and midshipmen will leave as military officers who are trained in advance technology and are proven leaders.
Students must be nominated by their home state US Senators or Congressman to be selected. Applications for nominations are due to Ohio Senator Rob Portman's Office by October 6th. Learn more at https://jordan.house.gov/constituentservices/serviceacademynominations.htm
