More than 25 ILHS students "hung out" with kids from all around our area at the Logan County
Youth Leadership Kickoff event recently. Students from Bellefontaine, Benjamin Logan, Indian Lake and Riverside met at Camp Willson to brave the giant swing, canoe and take part in other outdoor team building and problem solving actives with camp staff members and Youth Leadership adult volunteers.
Inside Stacey Logwood and Tammy Nicol from the Logan County CORE (Coalition for Opiate Relief) group served as guest speakers. They detailed the optiate crisis in our area and led the students in activities centered around fighting addiction. The pair also invited students to be part of the CORE Youth Council subcommittee to reach out to more young people about the dangers of opiate abuse.
Deb Orr from Mary Rutan Hospital's  "Healthy Habits, Healthy You" team also stressed the importance of an overall healthy lifestyle with proper diet and sleep.
In the afternoon students chose 4 all-county "Impact Projects" to serve the community, as well as several projects within their home school that impact their district. The event also kicks off the Freshmen/Sophomore programming year. Look for Youth Leadership students at the Indian Lake State Park's "Boo Fest" and the "Ring of Lights" at Bellefontaine's Blue Jacket Park.
