STUDENT ANNOUNCEMENTS
FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 23, 2018



All juniors and seniors meet in the auditorium this morning after attendance is taken for a Workforce Expo assembly.

Those students selected to attend this year's Academic Achievement Breakfast will meet in the cafeteria on Monday at 8:10.

FCCLA members will meet in the Foods Lab on Wednesday at 8:10.

Students wanting to participate in Track this year will meet on Wednesday at 8:20 in the cafeteria.

There will be a freshman class meeting on Thursday, March 1st in the gym at 8:15.

SADD members:  Please bring your five dollars to Ms. Metzger in the library.  Please have it turned in by our next meeting which will be held Friday March 2, in the cafeteria.

Without you there's only White and Blue, "Be the Red", sign up to donate blood. Receive a free shirt when you show up to donate. This spring's blood drive will be held March 21st. Please sign up in the guidance office or at lunch (beginning next week). You must be 16 or older and weigh at least 110 pounds. Please support our Community Blood Center and your school by giving the gift of life.

Thanks so much to all of the juniors who interviewed for Buckeye Boys State. The delegates who will be attending Buckeye Boys State this summer are Justin Collins, Colin Powers, Bryce Ramsey, Caleb Taylor and Jacob Zarnosky. Congratulations!

Any student interested in taking a college credit plus course through Urbana University that has not already taken the ACT will need to sign up to take the Accuplacer on March 20th. Sign up on the door in guidance. See Mrs. Stierhoff with questions. 

The Coalition for Opiate Relief Efforts (C. O. R. E.) is forming a youth coalition among area schools to help combat the misuse of prescription drugs and illegal opiates.  The first meeting will be held Sunday, February 25th from 2-4 pm at the Hilliker YMCA.  If you are interested in joining, see Ms. Metzger.

Seniors, please remember that common form applications are due to Mrs. Stierhoff by the end of the school day today. Late applications will not be accepted.

There will be a mandatory meeting for all students interested in playing baseball after school today. 

Mandatory softball practice will start Monday the 19th from 10-12 in the main gym, please turn in an emergency medical form and a physical form by the 19th to Coach Levingston.

Juniors- Benjamin Logan will be hosting an ACT workshop on Wednesday, February 21st from 12-3. It is $28. You must sign up with payment by Friday. Please see guidance to sign up.

Congratulations to Spencer Klauer and Kevin McLane on placing 2nd out of 13 teams in the FFA district tractor troubleshooting contest last Saturday. This is the first time Indian Lake has competed in the event in many years and the team surprised a lot of people, great job Spencer and Kevin.

Students who took the ASVAB, there will be a representative here to give an interpretation of results on Monday, Feb. 12th during Laker Time in computer lab C12. If you took the ASVAB, please be ready to come to C12 when you are called to get your scores.

There is still room to apply for OHP in the areas of HVAC/Electrical and Advanced Manufacturing.  If you are interested in these areas, please apply as soon as possible.

Wilson Hospital in Sidney is hosting a Wilson Hospice Volunteer Training seminar.  If you are interested in more information, please see the wall outside of Guidance.

Any junior or senior girl who would be interested in exploring science and the STEM fields of science, technology, engineering and math can sign up to attend STEM Steps at OSU Lima on March 12 or 13.  Space is limited, so please sign up soon.  The sign-up sheet is on the Guidance door.

Congratulations to Lexi Clem for winning her division in the FFA sub-district public speaking contest. She will compete at the district contest in 2 weeks for a chance to go to state! Good luck Lexi!

There will be free admission to all IL students who wear Laker gear to the last home boys’ basketball game of the year on Friday, February 16th.

The students who qualified for the 21st Century field trip to Get Air are listed outside the principal's office. In order to qualify, you must have had 30 hours of participation during the first semester. If you think you should be on the list and you are not, please leave your name with Mrs. Beale and she will have your hours checked.

Students, if you plan to bring a date from another school to the Snowball dance on Saturday, February 17th, you must complete a Guest Admission form.  The forms can be picked up in the office.

The Snowball dance is Saturday, February 17 from 8-11.  The cost is $5.00 at the door. The dance is semi-formal, no jeans of any color, no hats, sunglasses, etc. The junior class will be selling pop and water for $1.00. There will be a coat check at the door for $1.00.  All proceeds go to the junior class.

The Marines will be here for a lunch visit on Wednesday, Feb. 14th
