Indian Lake students who want to learn about our government and related jobs will again have the opportunity to participate in one of Ohio’s most valuable programs for young adults.
Local attorney Matt Chamberlain gave a brief presentation about Buckeye Boys State recently.
He explained the week-long educational event at Miami University in June focuses on teaching students about government by creating a mini-state, with students choosing to learn and perform actual jobs at either the city, county or state level. Earlier this week, ILHS junior girls also learned about going to Buckeye Girls State held at Bowling Green State University.
Interviews for Buckeye Girls State will take place next Thursday. Junior girls interested in being interviewed should sign up in the ILHS Guidance Office immediately. Boys state candidates should also sign up in guidance. Those interviews will take place in January.
Buckeye Girls State and Boys State stays are sponsored locally by American Legion organizations and the American Legion Auxiliary.
