Indian Lake DECA members proudly represented our chapter at the Ohio DECA State Career Development Conference in Columbus in late February. As a new chapter, we are incredibly proud of how our students showed up, competed, and represented our school with professionalism and confidence.
State Finalists
We are proud to recognize the following students who advanced to finals:
• Dani Braun – Accounting Applications Series
• Mara Bihn, Olivia Hurley and Maddie Miller – Career Awareness Project
• Blake Jackson and Makenna Hurley – Integrated Marketing Campaign Service
• Riley Ross and Carly Strayer – Integrated Marketing Campaign Service
Having 8 finalists as a new chapter is an incredible accomplishment, and we are so proud of the hard work that led to this success.
Chapter Awards
In addition to individual competition success, our chapter was recognized with:
• Achievement Level Chapter Membership
• Thrive Level Chapter Campaigns
• Gold Level Certified School-Based Enterprise
These honors reflect the commitment, organization, and culture our students are building together.
ICDC Advancement
We are especially excited to share that students will be advancing to the International Career Development Conference:
• Two students will continue their marketing initiatives through Thrive Level Chapter Campaigns at ICDC.
• Two students will compete at ICDC through our Gold Level Certified School-Based Enterprise.
To have multiple students advancing to the international level in our first years as a chapter is something truly special.
What meant the most, though, was hearing our underclassmen say they cannot wait to start preparing for next year now that they understand what DECA is all about. The momentum is real, and the future of our chapter is incredibly bright.
We are so proud of every single competitor.

Indian Lake High School/Ohio Hi Point business students excelled at the DECA District 3 Competition held recently at the University of Findlay. A total of 50 students represented ILHS school with professionalism, confidence, and determination.

32 Indian Lake High School students placed in the Top 5 in their events.
23 students qualified for the State Competition, the Ohio Career Development Conference (OCDC), taking place next month.
Additionally, 11 students had already qualified prior to the competition through their written events, showcasing the hard work and dedication they put in well before competition day.
DECA advisor and ILHS/OHP Business teacher Bailey Hemmelgarn says, "These accomplishments reflect countless hours of preparation, practice, and commitment. Congratulations to all of our competitors for representing our school so well and we are excited to see our qualifiers continue on to the state level!"
