This time he focused on distracted driving and "inattention blindness." Common distractions include eating, playing music, and texting or talking on the phone while driving. Studies show if you just glance at your phone while driving, your mind is still distracted for up to 27 seconds.
SRO Brenner explains, "How many have been driving and when you get to your destination you're like "man, I don't know how I got here?" He continued, "That is us being distracted by something else besides driving and you may miss the hazards in front of you, like brake lights, a pedestrian crossing, a stopped vehicle."
SRO Brenner urged students to concentrate on driving alone and wait until they arrive at their destination to do anything else.
